The powerful, power-saving Microchip 8-bit AVR® RISC-based microcontroller combines 32 KB ISP flash memory with read and write capabilities, 1-KB EEPROM, 2-KB SRAM, 54/69 general-purpose I/O lines, 32 general-purpose work registers, 1x JTAG interface for boundary scan and on-chip debugging/programming, 3x flexible timers/counters with comparison modes, internal and external interrupts, 1x serial programmable USART, 1x universal serial interface (USI) with start condition detector, 1x 8-channel 10-bit A/D converter, 1x programmable watchdog timer with internal oscillator, 1x serial SPI interface and five software-selectable power-saving modes. The module operates with voltages between 1.8 and 5.5 V.

By executing powerful commands in a single clock cycle, the module achieves throughput of close to 1 MIPS per MHz, balancing power consumption and processing speed.
