The LM336Z5 integrated circuit is a precision 5.0V shunt regulator. The monolithic IC voltage reference operates as a 5.0V zener with a low temperature coefficient and a dynamic impedance of 0.6 Ohm. A third terminal on the LM336Z5 allows the reference voltage and temperature coefficient to be easily adjusted.
The LM336Z5 can be used as a precise 5.0V low voltage reference, making it convenient to obtain a stable low voltage power supply. Since the LM336Z5 acts as a shunt regulator, you can also use this as a positive or negative voltage reference.
