The L6219 is a bipolar monolithic integrated circuit for controlling and driving the two windings of a bipolar stepper motor or a bidirectional control of two DC motors. The L6219 forms a complete control and control circuit for LS-TTL or microprocessor controlled stepper motor systems with a few external components. The power amplifier is a dual full bridge capable of 46V rated voltage and four diodes for current feedback. Cross-conductor protection is provided to avoid simultaneous cross-conductor during current direction switching. An internal pulse width modulation (PWM) controls the output current to 750 mA at 1 A peak inrush current. A large current control range is accessible via two binary inputs. A phase input to each bridge determines the load current direction. A thermal protection circuit disables the outputs if the chip temperature exceeds the safe temperature.
