CP2102-GM is a highly integrated USB/UART bridge regulator and a simple solution for converting RS232 designs to USB with a minimal number of external components and board space requirements. It includes a USB 2.0 full-speed function controller, a USB transceiver, an oscillator, an EEPROM, and an asynchronous serial data bus (UART) with full modem control signals. No additional external USB components are required. The on-chip EEPROM can be used to customize the USB vendor ID, product ID, product description string, power rating, device release number and device serial number depending on the OEM application. The EEPROM is programmed on-board via USB, allowing easy integration of the programming process into the manufacturing and testing process.
