Description
The L78 series of three-port three-pole positive regulators is available in TO-220, TO-220FP, D²PAK and DPAK packages and multiple fixed output voltages, making it useful for a wide range of applications. These controllers can provide local on-card control, eliminating the distribution problems associated with single point control. Each type has internal current limitation, thermal shutdown and safe area protection, making it essentially indestructible. If there is an adequate heat sink, they can provide an output current of more than 1 A. Although these devices are primarily designed as fixed voltage regulators, they can be used with external components to obtain adjustable voltages and currents.
