The L6208 is a fully integrated DMOS motor driver with overcurrent protection device realised in BCD technology, which combines isolated DMOS power transistors with CMOS and bipolar circuits on the same chip. The chip offers all the functions required to drive a bipolar, two-phase stepper motor:

• Supply voltage of 8 - 52 V
• 5.6 A peak current
• RDSon 0.3 ohm at 25°C
• Up to 100 kHz switching frequency
• Non-dissipative overcurrent protection
• Choose between fast/slow decay modes
• With fast decay time, quasi synchronous rectification
• Two independent offcycle controllers
• Stepper motor decoding logic (full and half step)
• Cross-line protection
• Thermal overload protection
• Low-voltage protection
• Integrated high-frequency free-wheeling diodes
